Last year we found homes for over 6,300 animals, spay/neutered 12,000 animals at a very low-cost (free for pit-bull breeds and feral cats), educated 35,000 school children and community groups, conducted 3,700 cruelty and abuse investigations, assisted 2,000 concerned pet owners with issues they were experiencing with the family pet, graduated hundreds of pups and their people from our highly acclaimed dog training classes, while our volunteers accompanied their own trained pet to visit the sick and elderly, bringing a little warmth and cheer.

This book was written by one of my high school english teachers. While I haven’t read it yet, the reviews have all been positive and I am definitely recommending it for the next book club book. Here’s the description from the publisher for those of you who are too lazy to look it up for yourself and will therefore immediately dismiss it:WHEN THE WORLD WAS YOUNG takes readers back to the neighborhoods of 1957 Chicago, where Angela Rosa and Agostino Peccatori, Italian–American immigrants still clinging to their old ways, must deal with the untimely death of Benito, the infant son. Angela Rosa has devoted her entire adult life to caring for her children, while Agostino runs the corner social club and tavern, drifting notoriously to other women. Oldest son Santo, having just graduated from high school, agonizes over the ways in which he is becoming more and more like his father, while 16–year–old daughter Victoria must constantly invent schemes to leave the house so she can meet up with boyfriends for a cigarette. Benito‘s death sends the entire family on paths that intersect and collide until the dramatic ending.
This is about how I feel going on 6 weeks of unemployment…
For a long time I’ve had several problems with Dan Abrams. Initially they were admittedly superficial, his face bothered me, but now that I’m forced to watch him at least once a day I can say that I dislike him as a person and not just because his face is hard to look at.Now, he’s onto another disastrous and self-righteous show called “Verdict” where he will discuss political, legal and pop culture news of the day and make a “verdict” about each item.
I get that he went to law school so his ego automatically skyrocketed the day he entered the halls of Columbia as a first year but why does Dan Abrams and anyone he actually has to run these ideas by at MSNBC think that we all want to hear his opinions on everything from the race for the Presidency to Britney Spears guest starring on “How I Met Your Mother.”Since Joe disagrees with my stance on Dan Abrams, eloquently calling me “stupid” because I don’t like a media personality, I often thought my opinion of Abrams wasn’t shared by many. Today I saw the light. On Huffington Post, they did Abrams a solid and basically blogged an advertisement for “Verdict,” all of the comments call Abrams a tool, and I agree.
